Karen sings!

Check it out, crank up your speakers *grin* I found this rather entertaining…

It’s so cool that Jewel Kilcher agreed to uglify herself to become “Karen”. I’m sure everyone was just so thrilled to see her sing again, since it’s been quite some time since she released an album after settling down with married life.

I remember reading Jewel’s book of poetry in 1998, called A Night Without Armor. It had very honest, raw pieces of poetry and prose written by her. Not exactly your sensual and romantic Pablo Neruda, but as a teenage fan of her whimsical music, I did enjoy Jewel’s emo pop-culture proses about her weary life, scared loneliness and her heartbreaks.

She came up with several great tunes, some that I really felt for. Do you remember these songs… It’s like a blast back into my young teenage years!

and my personal favorite, which was never quite regarded as one of her best works…

Absence Of Fear (from her album “Spirit”)

Inside my skin there is this space
It twists and turns
It bleeds and aches
Inside my heart there’s an empty room
It’s waiting for lightning
It’s waiting for you
And I am wanting
And I am needing you here
Inside the absence of fear
Muscle and sinew
Velvet and stone
This vessel is haunted
It creaks and moans
My bones call to you
In their separate skin
I make myself translucent
To let you in, for
I am wanting
And I am needing of you here
Inside the absence of fear
There is this hunger
This restlessness inside of me
And it knows that you’re no stranger
You’re my gravity
My hands will adore you through all darkness aim
They will lay you out in moonlight
And reinvent your name
For I am wanting you
And I am needing you here
I need you near
Inside the absence of fear
