This is SO cool *grin* Remember the awesome documentary I was telling you about earlier this year, which impressed me so much so that I ordered a whole bunch of autographed DVDs from the States because it truly left me thinking and mulling over things?
Well hullo nurse… the screening of ZEITGEIST is now here! See http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com
A bunch of my friends from film school are organising a screening of this award-winning documentary here in Singapore, so come on down but please do RSVP first at firstname.lastname@example.org because though admission is free, seats are limited and you really don’t want to be disappointed. Now, this happens on the evening of Sat 27 Dec at 66 Rowell Rd. For full details, click here. The following is the extracted description from Shin Shin & Nina’s page…
We arrive, at the age of a tipping point.
With the economic crisis, we see the unravelling of a system of speculation and its band-aid solutions that treats mostly effects and not pathological root causes.
With the Mumbai bombings we learnt that ‘terror’ is and will continue to happen in a world that is both desperate and vastly disparate.
These events are just 2, that mainstream media reports, thousands more go unnoticed as our attention is drawn a certain way. A way too often manufactured by powers that be.
Perhaps, the time now is to re-think, reflect and re-evaluate. Change will come from people’s minds when it is open to new ideas. The first step begins with us, when we choose to teach ourselves and step out of our comfortable ignorance.
Ignorance is not bad in itself. Apathy however could be lethal.
And in this spirit, Underneath the Radar shares Zeitgeist – the movie. It’s a new year again, so if not now, then when?
”Zeitgeist, The Movie’ was created as Not-for-Profit expression to communicate what the author felt, were vital social understandings which most of us rarely stop to think about. The film focuses on suppressed historical & modern information about currently dominant social institutions, while also exploring what could be in store for humanity if the power structures at large continue their patterns of self-interest, corruption, and consolidation.’
‘It is also important to point out that there are no utopias or endings. All evidence points to perpetual change on all levels. In turn, it is our personal actions everyday of our lives that mold and perpetuate the social systems we have in place. Yet, paradoxically, it is also our environmental influences which create our perspectives and hence world views. Therefore, true change will come not only from adjusting your personal understandings and decisions, but equally from changing the social structures that influence these understandings and decisions.’
Excellent food for thought for you. This thought provoking documentary really did something for me, and if you can, you should do yourself the favor and allow your eyes to be snapped wide open. So yes, educate yourself – a question a day keeps complacency at bay!
PS: Christmas is almost here… have you finished your last minute shopping yet? *grin*
